Getting Started - Schools

Selecting the proper school for your child can be one of the most important choices you must make when relocating to London. While each parent must decide what is best for the child, Jean Oddy & Co can help to make the process easier by providing information and referrals to many of these institutions.

Since selecting a school for your child is often a very personal and individual decision, you may wish to consult with London-based friends or colleagues with children of the same age. There are thousands of schools of all types in the greater London area, and a visit to the schools is often recommended before you start looking for housing.

Jean Oddy & Co are happy to provide suggestions regarding schools, as we keep records and comments from our clients regarding their experiences. Since we are not, primarily, a school referral service, here are a very few examples of schools which many people choose when moving to central London:

Schools

The American School in London (ASL)
The American School the largest and oldest non-profit, American, independent co-ed school in the greater London area. ASL is located in St. John's Wood and serves students aged pre-kindergarten (age 4) through high school grade twelve (age 18). This school houses 1200-1400 students and specializes in a curriculum based on the U.S. educational system. Courses are taught by American and British instructors.

This independent (about 200 students) co-ed day school features campuses in Hampstead for junior and primary students, and in Kensington for senior students Southbank offers an international baccalaureate degree at the end of 4 years in high school .
